martin landskys long association with poker flat recordings continues with yet another exquisitely realized three-tracker. long since a staple of the underground electronic music scene in berlin and europe in general, landskys deft ear for dynamics and sense of off kilter dance-floor knowledge continues to do the business for djs and dancers alike. after the great success of vol.1 , landsky now presents ekko traxx vol.2′,,,. echo my head is the perfect example - driving, focussed and funky, yet with a subtle undercurrent that keeps you slightly out of your comfort zone and locked in to the groove. weird night contains a spooky, discordant synth that raises the tension over and over, before giving way to a hard driving rhythm track that will see the late night heads fully losing themselves classic landsky style. that organ has a similar aesthetic, chunky rhythms and bass pulses for the floor, and synth stabs and melodic hooks that keep the track in constant forward motion.

inertia is a track designed for the floor, with a tough, hypnotic synth line that gathers pace as the track progresses. binnys remix deconstructs the elements of the original, turning it into a more pounding, jacking affair.
ruination takes things deeper, the main synth filters in and out, with lush atmospheres and dubbed out percussion helping the track along. angular momentum takes things on a trippier route, a swinging synth line helped along with pulsating claps and powerful stabs.
warren raww gives you ross: exotic sounds of the south for you to get down low when you feelin high. four tracks of sloshed up, dance floor equipment broadcast from a busted car stereo via the depths of some hallucinatory jungle rave up.

we pressed the 4 track hot pack of multi culti beats on a limited run of 500 jungle green records. in case you missed it, heres what the ep is all about: soul clap records welcomes one of the most unique artists in the game and he goes by the name bosq. a longtime boston homie, bosq (also known for his work with dj kon and the whiskey barons) first astounded us with his orquestra y madera album (ubiquity records) which put a modern dance floor twist on afro/latin funk and provided some of our biggest dj bombs that year. continuing to build the bridge we released his edit of fela kuti s opposite people (gator boots), collaborated on higher for our dotc vol.2 compilation (soul clap records) and we remixed his single bad for me from his sophomore celestial strut album (ubiquity records). this release is also accompanied by a sister record of remixes by auntie flo and caserta on limited yellow vinyl.

celebrating 10 years as a label, rekids founder radio slave delivers a mesmerizing production with a remix from ostgut tons marcel dettmann. since its birth in 2006 matt edwards rekids has played host to some of todays most renowned names in house and techno, including the likes of nina kraviz, roman flü,,,gel, shed and mr. g. with releases on the likes of r&s and running back, radio slave is one of the worlds finest producers, whose dance-floor focused cuts earned him the title of resident advisors most charted artist of 2015.
radio slaves vision is a dusky number possessing popping kicks and ebbing pads that meander forward as a murky voice proclaims the track title. meanwhile, marcel dettmanns remix distorts the original whilst emphasising the low-end to give it a dark and ominous aesthetic.

keeping with the rough release rate of an album every couple of years, prime numbers label boss trus me is back with his fourth full length, planet 4. featuring nine cuts of intergalactic techno and once again marking a considerable sonic evolution for this acclaimed uk artist. never one to do the same trick twice, david james wolstencroft uses his latest album as a vehicle for his own interest in deep space, physics and dark matter. it is those subjects that have occupied his mind in recent years, and those subjects that inform this brilliantly otherworldly album. where previous lps have variously been funk and soul heavy, or openly analogue and physical, this one is a more subtle and supple techno affair that is as cerebral as it is seductive. starting with a monologue that suggests that man has already landed on mars, 1979 is a cut that immediately places you somewhere in orbit. spooky synths and sci-fi sounds are eerie and atmospheric and very much set a perfect tone. from there, there is slow, elastic and unsettling mood music on the unexplained , deep and insular techno on dark flow and trippy dan bell style minimalism on ring round heart . the second half of the lp touches on chunky dub, manic and melodic grooves. this is a coherent statement that holds together conceptually and musically. as well as providing plenty of dynamite for the more discerning dance floor, planet 4 is also a delightfully detailed affair that will work just as well on headphones late at night.

record kicks are extremely proud to present one of the hottest new names on the retro soul scene, the tibbs! proceeded by the smashing single next time , the tibbs debut album takin over will hit the streets on may 20. produced by paul willemsen (zuco 103 / lefties soul connection), recorded at the electric monkey studio in amsterdam using only vintage gear and mastered in nashville by soul veteran bob ohlsson (the guy who took care of mastering for many motown hits), takin over is indeed a breath of fresh air! from floor-shaking soul tunes like dog days , get back tuesday and next time , to the deep soul of wild way and funk stormer suffocated , singer elsa bekman - supported by a super tight big band - will impress everybody with her unique raw, gritty vocals that do not fear comparison with big names such as amy winehouse and duffy. based around amsterdam and founded by a bunch of northern-soul and funk disciples, the tibbs started in 2012 taking inspiration from the golden age of soul music. in 2014 they self-released a demo ep and they also released a 45 vinyl on german funk label tramp records. now, after a few exciting years turning heads and spreading soul tunes all around the country - including appearances at the legendary north sea jazz club and a live performances at national radio 6 - the tibbs are finally ready to make their official debut on record kicks. take notice, because the tibbs are the new name to watch!
